The lovely hand-painted silk is now on the loom, and the question my customers face: what yarn, which colour and which pattern to choose? I run the samples at the beginning of most projects to ease answering it.
So, let’s start with plain weave and hearts weave, in light gold silk weft and pale purple (lilac) silk weft. Both are in the same light hue as most of the warp, and both colours are present in the warp itself. In my view, both pale gold and lilac are excellent choices to let the warp play the main part. Plain weave will also work for putting the emphasis on warp, but the hearts weave (or other similar repetitive pattern).
Below I posted photos of the three parts of the samples.
